Three kidnapped people were freed by Operation Forest Sanity troops after they conducted a raid on a bandit stronghold in Kaduna State.
The action was taken to forward clearance operations along the Chikun-Birnin Gwari councils’ border in the Kuriga-Manini-Udawa districts.
Samuel Aruwan, the commissioner for internal security and home affairs, revealed this in a statement and added that during the operations, the military also found weapons and ammunition.
According to Aruwan, the military conducted search and rescue operations in the hideaway near Ungwan Malam Ali after acting on reliable intelligence.

The bandits fled after being engaged by the army with bullet wounds due to the superior firepower of the advancing forces, he claimed.
“On raiding the camp, the troops rescued three kidnapped persons identified as Luka Ibrahim, Yusuf Jibril and Saminu Abdullahi.
“The troops recovered one AK47 rifle, 18 rounds of ammunition, and 11 pump action cartridges.
“The Kaduna State government received the operational feedback with satisfaction and commended the troops for another successful round of operations in the area. The rescued citizens have been returned to their community. Troops will continue to carry out operations in the areas.”
Aruwan added: “Citizens are urged to report suspicious individuals seeking treatment for gunshot injuries.”
MEANWHILE, in Plateau State, local security organizations, like Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), hunters’ associations, and neighbourhood watch, have been outlawed from participating in electoral campaign activities.
The instruction was given by the police commissioner, Bartholomew Onyeka, yesterday at a meeting with the resident electoral commissioner, chairmen of political parties, and heads of security agencies at the police officers’ mess in Jos.
Onyeka requested that political parties follow the rules set forth by INEC and the Electoral Act of 2022 (as amended).
Additionally, he encouraged party officials and chieftains to persuade flag bearers, members, sympathizers, and followers not to take any actions or engage in any behavior that would instigate violence or violate the peace.
On no account should any of the aforementioned groups be spotted near political campaigns or rallies in any region of Plateau State, the speaker emphasized. This is merely to inform everyone that it is now unlawful for any local security groups to participate in political activities.

“The Police Force Headquarters has given stern instructions to all Area Commanders, PMF Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Police Tactical Units not to accept any political thuggery, intimidation, violent conduct, or clashes that could endanger the current peace.
They have also been instructed to detain and charge anyone in possession of a firearm or other hazardous weapon while attending rallies and campaigns in their home areas.
