After days of intense flooding in Kogi State caused a significant loss of life and property, Hon. Teejay Yusuf has asked for quick action by appropriate federal and state government bodies.
Yusuf expressed his condolences in a statement to the families of those who perished and the many others who lost assets and property in the ongoing flooding that has engulfed not only Lokoja, the state capital but also other cities and communities in the state.
“The propensity and effect of this year’s flooding, which has lingered for days and destroyed villages and made many people homeless, has also hampered economic activity and made vehicle and human travels to states in the South-east, South-west and South-south zones largely cumbersome and mostly non-motorable.

“The immediate intervention of the federal government through relevant agencies s needed. It is expected that the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, as well as the National Emergency Management Agency and other relevant agencies, will move swiftly to provide immediate palliative to victims of the flooding.”
