According to Mr. Stephen Dawulung, Kogi Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, no fewer than five people perished and three others were injured in an automobile accident that happened in Kogi on Sunday (FRSC).
The car accident happened at Ogbagbo junction along the Ejule-Ochadamu route at at 12.47 p.m., according to Dawulung, who called the tragedy “extremely terrible.” A Nissan and a Mazda collided in the accident.
The Nissan automobile drifted off its lane and crashed with the approaching Mazda 323 car after losing control while attempting to dodge a pothole, according to the sector commander.

Sadly, four of the eight people involved in the horrific accident perished suddenly, while the other four suffered significant injuries.
The five injured people were taken to Enemona Hospital in Ejule in the Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi by our employees, who arrived on the scene quickly in response to a distress call. There, the fifth victim passed away while receiving medical care.
The five deceased passengers’ bodies were placed in the morgue of the same Enemona Hospital in Ejule.
“Our officers swiftly cleaned the road of the impediments caused by the incident to allow free flow of traffic,” he said.
According to the FRSC Commander, the accident was caused by speeding and a substandard road.

He asked drivers to strictly adhere to posted speed limits and to set reasonable boundaries by slowing down in congested regions and dangerous parts of the road.
While expressing sympathy to the victims’ families, Dawulung urged the Federal Government to investigate measures to fix the majority of the nation’s highways, which he claimed were full of potholes.
