Tomorrow, September 4th, 2025,at Louis Edet House in Abuja, the Nigeria Police Force will decide who succeeds DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi as its Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO). Among the contenders, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Bisi Okuwobi stands out as the frontrunner.
If selected, she would become only the second woman in history to hold the role, following CP Bisi Kolawole. Known for her innovation and cosmopolitan outlook, Okuwobi has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished police image makers.
Currently the National Coordinator of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), she has spent over two decades reshaping community policing, conflict resolution and crisis communication. With degrees in Peace and Conflict Studies and a doctoral fellowship from the University of Ibadan, she combines academic depth with field-tested leadership.
Her résumé spans key positions, from DPO at Ejigbo Division in Lagos, where she transformed community relations to PRO across three state commands. Internationally, she served as a UN Police Information Officer in Liberia, earning a UN commendation for outstanding service.
Decorated with numerous awards, including Best Overall Graduate at the Tactical and Leadership Command Course (2023) and Best DPO in Lagos (2019), she is also a member of elite professional associations such as IACP, IAWP and NIPR.
For many, Okuwobi represents more than a candidate . She symbolizes a modern, human-centered approach to policing. Should she be named FPRO, it would mark a historic moment for both the Force and its relationship with the public.
