The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) has officially declared October as Pharmacy Rx Emblem Month, marking a nationwide celebration of trust, professionalism and excellence in pharmaceutical care.
Speaking during a press conference on October 4th, 2025, at the ACPN headquarters, Pharm. Ezeh Ambrose Igwekamma, National Chairman of the association, described the declaration as both historic and symbolic.
Ezeh also used the occasion to reaffirm the central role of community pharmacy in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of people.
Ezeh highlighted the universal importance of the Rx emblem, long recognized as a symbol of healing, integrity and professional competence. According to him, dedicating an entire month to this emblem elevates public awareness about the value of authentic pharmaceutical practice and the vital position community pharmacies hold in Nigeria’s healthcare system.
The ACPN Chairman further emphasized that community pharmacies serve as more than just dispensing outlets. They are accessible health hubs embedded within communities, offering expert medication guidance, preventive health services, chronic disease management and empathetic listening.
In a landscape where counterfeit and substandard medicines threaten public health, Ezeh underscored the emblem’s value as a beacon of authenticity and quality, guiding patients to licensed, trusted practitioners.
Through the month-long observance, the ACPN seeks to:
Enhance public trust in pharmacies displaying the Rx emblem as centers of healthcare excellence.
Strengthen the bond between pharmacists and the communities they serve.
Showcase the expanding role of community pharmacists in patient counseling, preventive health, and wellness support.
