Residents and Farmers in Owode Gerald in Ijebu-Igbo, Oke Agbo, Area J1 in Ijebu North Local Government Ogun State have written to express their grave concerns and seek immediate intervention regarding the high-handed and brutal methods used to forceful take over their farmlands and properties being perpetrated in their community.
These actions have caused mayhem, endangering their lives, and threatening their properties, farmlands, and businesses, which are their primary sources of livelihood.
In their petition they drew the attention to the alleged involvement of key individuals in these unscrupulous activities. The Oba Stephen adeleke of oke agbo in ijebu Igbo and some high ranking government official and his agents are accused of using their positions to intimidate and coerce the residents,indigenes and farmers in the village.
The allegations against these individuals include the use of diabolical means, such as fetish charms and collaboration with a notorious native doctor, to instill fear among them. Furthermore, the community members, said they have resorted to physical threats involving guns, assaults on residents, forced illegal registrations, and wanton destruction of farms. They have also been seizing motorcycles and phones, compelling residents to swear oaths of silence to prevent the disclosure of the gross abuses and brutality inflicted upon them.
Additional allegations include the burning of homes, the destruction of farm produce worth millions of Naira, and the use of thugs to perpetuate harassment and violence at any given time. These acts have led to a state of constant fear and insecurity within the village.
They request the following actions to be taken
1. An immediate investigation into the activities of the aforementioned individuals.
2. Restoration of peace and security in the village.
3. Assurance of their right to live and conduct their businesses without fear of attack.
4. Compensation for the losses incurred due to the destruction of property and farmlands.
They appeal to the State government to act promptly and address their concerns and restore normalcy to Owode Gerald and safeguard their village from further harm.
