The Maritime Police Command at the Force Headquarters Annex, Obalende, Lagos, has welcomed its new Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Garba Musa Yusuf, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career.
AIG Musa Yusuf Garba, recently promoted as assistant inspector general of police and posted as the AIG Maritime police command, force headquarters annex Lagos took over from AIG Augustina Ogbodo, now posted to Force CID annex alagbon LAGOS as the new assistant inspector general.
AIG Musa Yusuf Garba, who hails from Zamfara State, brings a wealth of experience and strategic leadership to the command.
A thorough-bred officer, AIG Musa Yusuf Garba, who was born on the 1st of January, 1966, enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on the 18th of May 1992 and had his cadet Officers training at the police academy annex, Kaduna State.
He holds a Masters Degree in criminology and Forensic Psychology from Nigerian Defense Academy, Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Usman Dan Fodio University, advanced diploma in strategic security and infrastructure protection, University of LAGOS, executive diploma in private detective tradecraft, Elizade University, Ilora, ONDO State.
These trainings have shaped him into an exceptional leader with a broad understanding of the police force’s operation and strategic needs.
Throughout his career, AIG Musa Yusuf Garba has served in various formations across the country, including Commissioner of police, deputy Commandant, police Staff College, Jos, commissioner of police, CP Kaduna State Command and Commandant, police training school, Ikeja, Lagos State.
His experiences in these key formations have prepared him for the challenges of leading the Maritime Police Command.
AIG Musa Yusuf Garba’s leadership style is rooted in transparency, community engagement, and inter-agency collaboration. His administrative policies emphasize open communication with the public, fostering strong ties with community stakeholders, and working closely with sister agencies to ensure effective policing. “One of his key policies is free and unrestricted access to the formation and its officers.
