The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced a three-day operational visit to the Logistics Command in Lagos from February 2nd, 2026, to assess personnel readiness, equipment and critical facilities supporting ongoing counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations nationwide. The visit underscored the decisive role of logistics in modern warfare, highlighting the importance of resilient supply chains, maintenance efficiency and workforce motivation in sustaining nationwide airpower projection.
In a press statement released by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the CAS described Lagos as central to the NAF’s operational framework, hosting Logistics Command and several key establishments that support air operations across the country, while emphasizing that operational success is inseparable from logistics strength and sustained infrastructure investment.
As part of the tour, the CAS paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reaffirming the strong partnership between the NAF and Lagos State Government and commending the state’s leadership in infrastructure development and security. Governor Sanwo-Olu, in turn, reiterated the state’s commitment to close cooperation with the Armed Forces, stressing the importance of security to economic growth and social stability. The CAS also acknowledged the synergy between the NAF and other security agencies under Operation MESA, particularly in air surveillance and intelligence support, and commissioned major welfare and infrastructure projects at 055 NAF Camp, Legico Barracks, including two blocks of 24 two-bedroom flats, a block of 40 one-bedroom flats and a purpose-built sports complex to promote personnel fitness and wellbeing. He described the upgraded facilities as among the most dignified residential environments for service personnel nationwide and he praised the former CAS Air Marshal HB Abubakar (rtd) for initiating the project and urged occupants to uphold discipline and ownership.
The CAS further expressed appreciation to the Federal Government, the National Assembly and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustained support, reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s integrated focus on logistics readiness, personnel welfare and intergovernmental cooperation as a force multiplier in safeguarding national security.
