Dr. Josef Onoh, the spokesperson for the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu presidential campaign in the southeast, has urged Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, to abandon the campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Atiku Abubakar in favor of the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on moral grounds.
Onoh, a previous Enugu-based PDP candidate for governor, pleaded with the Rivers State governor to spare himself the PDP’s problems in a statement released on Saturday.

Wike cannot afford to be excluded from the upcoming administration of national unity, which would be independent of political party, according to the APC head.

He criticized Debo Ologunagba’s claim that the PDP saved Wike from obscurity. Ologunagba is the national publicity secretary for the PDP.

Onoh claimed that Wike kept the PDP from imploding and that the governor of Rivers State is still the main opposition party’s “storm, thunder, and lightning.”

The PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, should quit, the APC campaign spokesperson demanded while applauding Wike for clarifying his position on the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“I urge Wike to apply his political sagacity and wisdom,” he said. “Our party, the PDP, has grossly betrayed his trust and zeal as a stabilizing force of the PDP, but since the party has betrayed the hands that fed it, I urge him to join hands and deliver the southern mandate, in the person of Asiwaju Tinubu.”

This is based on principles, and I appreciate him rising up to address the conflict between the Muslim/Muslim ticket and the PDP’s continuous dominance of the north. I implore him to join Asiwaju in establishing a National Unity Government that will advance Nigeria and be advantageous to all.

“Asiwaju is the only presidential contender who has demonstrated a commitment to bringing Nigerians together out of pure national interest. In order to serve Nigerians’ interests, I thus implore Wike to work with Tinubu to install a government of national unity. I implore him to adhere to the same tenet of electing a president from the South. Given the current circumstances and in accordance with Jagaban’s counsel to “follow who knows the route,” I implore Wike to join Aiwaju in forming a government of national unity while the light is still at its brightest.

He continued by saying that Tinubu is not interested in partisan politics or political sentiments, but rather in politics that aims to liberate Nigeria and raise her to new heights.

“Ologunagba arguing that Wike cannot leave a party that raised him from obscurity, I want to clarify that perception because PDP did not raise Wike from obscurity; rather, Wike revived PDP from poverty and hunger,” says Onoh. Wike is the contemporary PDP that we can all see, and PDP needs Wike more than Wike needs PDP. Although I made a contribution to the N14 billion as a candidate for governor, the majority of those chanting PDP are not contributors.

In order to help us create a government of national unity, I implore Wike to come. Asiwaju is the solution; he is the Google map, so let’s use it to guide us to our objective since he knows the way. Regarding the Muslim/Muslim ticket, we are not traveling to Nigeria to erect temples and mosques, but rather to provide assistance. Service to mankind does not put religion first and is racial prejudice-blind.

I concur with Wike’s stance that Ayu must quit. As a former PDP candidate, I don’t want to discuss the extortion the party used to entice us into its course, but now is the moment for us to mend fences and find common ground. Let’s work together to mend the nation’s scars, and let this backing for the Asiwaju administration serve as a solid foundation and long-term answer for more peace and prosperity in our country.
