The lawmaker representing Kogi-West senatorial district, Smart Adeyemi has called on all Nigerians, irrespective of religion, to see the emergence of Tinubu and Shettima as the will of the almighty who governs the universe.
The lawmaker also proposed a bill to prevent same faith ticket of either Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian for President and Vice President seats by any political party after the 2023 general election.
Adeyemi, at the press briefing said the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress generated a lot of controversies in the country, and necessitated the move.
The Kogi lawmaker who showed a copy of the draft to journalists on Sunday noted that the Senate is seeking amendment to section 84 of the 2022 Electoral Act.
According to him, to prevent future occurrence, a new sub-section is being proposed to section 84 of the 2022 Electoral Act .
The senator further noted that the Muslim-Muslim ticket was a necessary error by the ruling APC, but was quick to maintain that Nigerians should look at capacity in Tinubu/Shettima rather than their religious faith.
Senator Adeyemi, however commended the APC for ensuring that presidency is zoned to the South which he said, would unite the country, while he lashes at other political parties for being sensitive to the zoning. END!!!!
