The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has led a high-powered security assessment team to Plateau State, reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to restoring and sustaining peace in the region. The visit, which took place on April 2, 2026, aimed to assess the security situation in Jos and surrounding areas, and to boost public confidence in ongoing security efforts.

During his visit, General Shaibu received a comprehensive briefing from Major General Folusho Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, on ongoing operations and proactive measures being implemented to contain threats and protect lives and property. He also interacted with community leaders and residents, urging them to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies.

The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, welcomed the COAS and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening peace, security, and development across the state. Local government officials, including Hon. Dachung Bagos and Hon. Ladi Dangyok, praised the COAS for the timely visit and expressed appreciation for the swift intervention.
