The Nigerian Army has intensified its nationwide operations, recording key successes between 4th and 6th September 2025. Within the period, troops neutralized two terrorists, arrested seven criminal suspects, including a female terrorist logistics supplier and recovered two AK-47 rifles, a stolen vehicle, petroleum products and other items.
North East
On 6th September, troops of 192 Battalion with the Hybrid Force engaged Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)/JAS terrorists near Kwatara Kasa Village along the Gwoza–Limankara Road in Borno State. One terrorist was killed in the exchange, while others fled toward the Mandara Mountains.
In Adamawa State, 232 Battalion troops intercepted two petroleum smugglers in Mubi South LGA with 19 jerrycans of petroleum products concealed on motorcycles.
North West
In Zamfara State, 1 Brigade troops, acting on intelligence and working with the Department of State Services (DSS), arrested a female logistics supplier linked to notorious terrorist kingpin Ado Aliero. The suspect, picked up at Kucheri in Tsafe LGA, confessed to also dealing in illicit drugs. Recovered items included a mobile phone, ₦37,000 cash and other personal effects.
Federal Capital Territory
In Abuja, 176 Guards Battalion mounted a snap checkpoint to intercept a stolen vehicle traced from Osun State. Although the occupants initially fled, they were tracked to a hotel in Gwagwalada where three suspects were arrested. The operation led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle, 11 mobile phones and ₦29,700 cash. The suspects and exhibits have since been handed over to the police.
North Central
In Plateau State, troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE achieved a breakthrough after arresting a terrorist informant at Dadin Kowa on 4 September. During interrogation, the suspect led soldiers to a hidden weapons cache in Mista Ali Village, Bassa LGA. He attempted to escape custody and was neutralized. Troops recovered two AK-47 rifles from the hideout, with efforts underway to apprehend his accomplices.
The Nigerian Army emphasized that these operations highlight its resolve to dismantle terrorist networks, curb criminality, and recover illegal arms nationwide. The Army also reaffirmed its commitment to creating a secure environment that will foster agricultural productivity in line with the Federal Government’s food security agenda.
