The Nigerian Army has scored fresh victories in its ongoing operations across the country, taking down terrorists, rescuing civilians and seizing dangerous weapons in a series of coordinated raids. In the past few days, troops neutralized three terrorists, secured the surrender of 25 family members of ISWAP/JAS fighters, arrested 17 criminal suspects, and recovered arms, explosives and other illicit equipment.
In a statement released by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel OA Anele, the Army confirmed that on 11th August 2025, soldiers of 202 Battalion, operating in Bama LGA of Borno State, received 25 ISWAP/JAS family members, comprising of 12 women and 13 children who surrendered from the villages of Zalmari, Gazuwa and Alafa. The group is now undergoing security profiling at the 21 Special Armoured Brigade.
That same day in Yobe State, 233 Battalion troops, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force, staged an ambush on the Sassawa–Kaburu axis in Damaturu LGA, killing one terrorist and recovering an AK-47 rifle. In Zamfara State, soldiers of 1 Brigade Combat Team 5 foiled a planned attack on Forward Operating Base Galadi in Shinkafi LGA, neutralizing an assailant and confiscating a mobile phone.
The following day, acting on intelligence provided by a rescued kidnapping victim, troops stormed Gremasa Mountain in Shanga LGA, Kebbi State, capturing eight suspected kidnappers. In Plateau State, Sector 4 of Operation SAFE HAVEN arrested five men accused of vandalizing government pipelines in Kassa Village, Barkin Ladi LGA and handed them over to the NSCDC. Meanwhile, in Taraba State, soldiers from Sector 3 FOB Wukari, under Operation WHIRL STROKE, detained two suspected kidnap collaborators in possession of POS machines, ATM cards, and cash.
On 13th August, 34 Artillery Brigade troops mounted an offensive on an IPOB/ESN hideout in Ndeji Community, a border point between Anambra, Abia and Imo States. One militant was killed and a pistol, ammunition, cartridges, radios, IED components and mobile phones were seized. Two planted explosives were also safely neutralized by an EOD team.
According to the statement, these operations reflect the Army’s steadfast resolve to protect lives and property, safeguard farmers and bolster the Federal Government’s push for greater food security. Commanders have pledged to maintain unrelenting pressure on terrorists and criminals until peace and stability are restored across the nation.
