In the midst of the turmoil roiling the party, the disgruntled governor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), often known as G5, has traveled to Spain for an important meeting.

After the Rivers Governor made additional accusations against the party chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, The Nation learned that the governors had departed the country for Madrid on Friday night.

Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Samuel Ortom (Benue) are among the governors who have endorsed Wike, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Enugu State, may follow suit later.

Recall that Wike continued to level accusations against Ayu during a press conference in Port Harcourt on Friday, insisting that the national chairman lacked the moral character to oversee the party’s campaign in 2023.

The disgruntled Governors claimed that it is unfair for the party to have the national chairman and presidential candidate from the North following the results of the party’s presidential primary election.

They threatened to withdraw the party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, until Ayu resigns his post as party chairman.
