CLEEN Foundation, in collaboration with the Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma Empowerment Foundation (ICCEF), is pleased to announce the third (3rd) annual Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma Impact and Legacy Lecture Series.
This year’s highly anticipated event, themed “The Personal is Political: Lessons from the Life of Innocent Chukwuma,” will be delivered by the distinguished Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, a renowned feminist activist, gender and development specialist, writer, and former First Lady of Ekiti State.
The lecture is scheduled to take place in Lagos on April 3, 2025, and will bring together thought leaders, activists, and members of the broader community to reflect on the enduring influence of Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma. The phrase “the personal is political,” which gained prominence during the second wave of feminism in the 1960s, will serve as the focal point of this year’s discourse. Erelu Adeleye-Fayemi will explore how Innocent’s personal experiences shaped his political ideology and activism, offering valuable lessons on the interconnectedness of individual actions and societal transformation.
In a statement jointly signed by Peter Maduoma, Acting Executive Director of CLEEN Foundation, and Josephine Effah-Chukwuma, Executive Chair of ICCEF, the organization emphasized Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma’s legacy as a tireless advocate for social justice, equality, human rights, justice sector reforms, and good governance. His dedication continues to inspire and influence changemakers in Nigeria and beyond. This annual lecture series serves as a platform to uphold his vision and commitment to a just society.
During the event, there will be an insightful Keynote Address by Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, exploring the role of personal experiences in shaping political activism.
Also, engaging discussions on the influence of Innocent Chukwuma’s work and its impact on governance, social justice, and human rights.
Also on the line up of activities, interactive sessions for participants to share perspectives and reflect on ways to drive societal progress will be held on virtual and physical Participation, ensuring a broad and inclusive audience.
