The CLEEN Foundation has urged protesters to cease using juveniles as shields during the #EndBadGovernance protests. This appeal was part of its report titled: “Observation on the Conduct of Law Enforcement Personnel During The Nationwide #EndBadGovernance Protests In Nigeria,” based on observations from Day 1 of the protests.

The recommendations made by the foundation to the Government are as follows

1. The President should urgently engage in dialogue with the youth to address their concerns and meet their demands.

2. Security and Law Enforcement Agencies, led by the Inspector General of Police, must ensure personnel are equipped with modern policing equipment for their safety and that of the protesters.
– The use of force should be proportional to the threats faced.
– Allegations of misconduct by law enforcement personnel should be investigated, and perpetrators brought to justice.

3. Protesters should remain peaceful and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
– They should stop using juveniles as shields.

4. Hospitals should prioritize the care of injured protesters, especially those with gunshot wounds, before demanding police reports.

5. Civil society organizations and other stakeholders should continue to monitor the protests closely and document their observations.
