Comptroller Dera Nnadi, (mni), Customs Area Controller of Tin-Can Island Port, has been honored for his pivotal contributions to Nigeria’s fight against drug importation. The award was presented during the commissioning of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s (NDLEA) new ultra-modern office at Eko Atlantic City, Lagos. The event was attended by top officials, including NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), who lauded Nnadi’s efforts.
Under Nnadi’s leadership, the Tin-Can Port has seen significant drug seizures, including large quantities of cocaine, heroin, and cannabis, marking key victories in Nigeria’s war against drug trafficking. His command’s interception of over 1,000 kg of Canadian loud cannabis set a historic record at Nigerian seaports.
Brig. Gen. Marwa commended the strong collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service and the NDLEA, highlighting the importance of such partnerships in curbing the illicit drug trade. Other notable awardees at the event included Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the UK High Commissioner to Nigeria.
The ceremony emphasized Nigeria’s growing resolve to enhance its drug enforcement capabilities, with the new facility—donated by the UK Drug Enforcement Agency, representing a crucial step in bolstering the country’s efforts to combat drug-related crimes.
