Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN ), the apex body of crime and investigative journalists in Nigeria, has sent a congratulatory message to the Ag. Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun on his appointment and decoration by the Vice President, Kashim Shetimma , on Tuesday,June 20,2023.
The association also commended the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria , Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the choice of Egbetokun to lead the Nigeria Police Force, after the exit of IGP Usman Baba Alkali ,whose tenure witnessed some innovations in the history of the Nigeria Police Force.
In a Statement from the President of the association, Olalekan Olabulo and made available to mikeosemekenews.com.ng, Ag. IGP Kayode Egbetokun is indeed a well rounded officer who aptly fits into his new designation.
The statement goes further to say that the Ag. IGP’s appointment in the Tinubu-led administration, will definitely bring to light, his achievements for excellence and detailed enforcement of effectively carrying out his duties.
Olabulo also posited that Egbetokun held positions as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos, Squadron Commander MOPOL, Anti Fraud Unit, FCT Abuja and DIG, Force Criminal Investigations Department, Abuja, among other commands and formations at various times.
According to the statement, the Ag. IGP is a graduate of Mathematics and a one time lecturer of Mathematics at the Yaba College of Technology. It is expected that Ag. IGP Egbetokun would explore his numerical, geometrical and analytical reasoning , thereby, bringing to bear, cryptographic techniques on information security and data confidentiality that will tackle insecurity and bring an end to the infernal reign of criminality and terrorism in the country.
Crime Reporters Association Of Nigeria, (CRAN) President Olalekan Olabulo, also added that the association will support the Ag. IGP’s strategic directive and critical operational initiative that is geared towards combating the menace of violent crimes in Nigeria, through clear and unbiased crime reporting.
