Nigerian-born broadcaster Richard Edoki, popularly known as Richybongo, has received commendation from Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), following his nomination for the Best Newcomer category at the National Hospital Radio Awards 2025.
In a statement released by NiDCOM’s Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa described Edoki’s achievement as a testament to Nigerian excellence in the diaspora and wished him success at the awards ceremony scheduled for April 5, 2025, in Leicestershire, UK.

Edoki, the host of African Vibe with Richybongo on the Community & Hospital Broadcasting Network (CHBN Radio) in Cornwall, was nominated for his innovative approach to promoting African culture and fostering inclusivity. His Sunday evening programme has been lauded for its focus on showcasing African heritage while bridging cultural gaps within the Cornish community.
Before relocating to the UK three years ago, Edoki built a reputation in Nigeria as a broadcaster with Silverbird/Rhythm. His work in the UK continues to spotlight African culture, reflecting a commitment to diversity and cultural harmony.
