The Defence HQ explains that Operation SAFE CORRIDOR is a deradicalisation, rehabilitation, and reintegration programme for surrendered, screened, and low-risk former combatants, not an amnesty programme. The programme has contributed to intelligence gathering and weakened insurgent structures.
The CDS’ comments were made in the context of a military doctrine lecture, highlighting global best practices in conflict resolution. The Nigerian Armed Forces remain committed to neutralizing active terrorists and protecting citizens, while also addressing surrendered individuals through Operation SAFE CORRIDOR.
