As part of its 69th anniversary celebration, the Nigerian Navy’s Eastern Fleet welcomed the public aboard its ships at NNS VICTORY jetty in Calabar. The open day event showcased Nigeria’s maritime strength and aimed to foster closer ties between the Navy and the community.
Commander Eastern Fleet, Rear Admiral KO Oguntuga, led the initiative, offering visitors guided tours of key vessels, including two locally built Seaward Defence Boats. The NNS ANDONI, NNS OJI, NNS ZUR and NNS EKULU. Guests got a glimpse into the daily lives of naval personnel and the Navy’s crucial role in securing Nigeria’s maritime domain to support economic growth.
With early arrivals and thorough security documentation, the event was smoothly coordinated. The Navy Band energized the atmosphere with live music, enhancing the celebratory mood.
The tour underscores the Navy’s commitment to maritime safety and its contribution to Nigeria’s blue economy, serving as both a celebration and a public engagement success.
