The Eastern Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy held an Interdenominational Church Service on Sunday, 25 May, to commemorate the Nigerian Navy’s 69th Anniversary. The solemn and symbolic event took place at the Roman Catholic Church, Akim Barracks, Calabar.
The Service brought together Officers, Ratings, and Personnel from Headquarters Eastern Naval Command and affiliated units within the Calabar area. It was a moment of reflection, thanksgiving, and prayer for the Navy’s continued service to the nation.
Representing the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral SA Akinwande, was the Fleet Commander, Eastern Fleet (FC EAST), Rear Admiral KO Oguntuga. He delivered the Chief of the Naval Staff’s anniversary message, emphasizing dedication to duty, unwavering patriotism, and the importance of spiritual grounding in military service.
Special prayers were also offered for the Nigerian Navy, the Armed Forces, and the nation at large, marking the occasion with spiritual unity and renewed commitment to national security and maritime excellence.
The 69th Anniversary celebrations continue with a series of events scheduled to highlight the Navy’s legacy, operational achievements, and strategic contributions to Nigeria’s maritime domain.
