The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral KC Ezete, paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Senator Bassey Edet Otu, at the Governor’s Office in Calabar on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025.
Rear Admiral Ezete was accompanied by a distinguished delegation of senior naval officers, among them the Chief Staff Officer, Rear Admiral DM Ndanusa; the Command Operations Officer, Commodore CE Oji; the Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship Victory, Commodore A. Oride; as well as other principal staff officers of the Command.
In his discussions with the Governor, the FOC expressed appreciation for the State Government’s consistent support to the Nigerian Navy. He specifically acknowledged the Governor’s approval of the Navy’s survey of the Bakassi Deep Sea Port and his backing for the deployment of a security houseboat in the Bakassi area, initiatives that have strengthened maritime security operations in the region. He also conveyed the gratitude of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral EI Ogalla, for what he described as an enduring and productive partnership between the Navy and the State.
Governor Otu, in his response, commended the Navy for its professionalism and its critical role in safeguarding Cross River’s maritime domain. He highlighted the Navy’s strong surveillance presence and its contribution to curbing insecurity along the waterways. The Governor further praised the leadership of the Chief of the Naval Staff and pledged the State’s continued cooperation in supporting naval operations.
The meeting concluded with the ceremonial exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph, underscoring the cordial relationship between the Nigerian Navy and the Government of Cross River State.
