Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, has approved the payment of an end-of-year bonus to the state’s civil servants.
According to Muyiwa Adekeye, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication, the 2021 end-of-year bonus will cost the state N1.382 billion.
Civil servants will receive bonuses this month ranging from 100% of monthly pay for junior civil servants to 30% for senior civil servants, he said.

The end-of-year bonus, he explained, was part of the state government’s effort to boost morale and improve the welfare of civil servants.
“Under the scheme, workers in Grades 1 through 7 will receive a bonus equal to 100 percent of their monthly salary.” “Middle-level civil servants in Grade Levels 8-13 will receive 40% of their monthly earnings, while senior officers in Grade Levels 14 and above will receive 30%,” he said.
According to Adekeye, the Kaduna State government became the first government, national or subnational, to pay the new national minimum wage in September 2019.
He went on to say that the state had also increased the minimum pension for defined benefit retirees to N30,000 per month.
