As Liverpool defeated Manchester City 1-0 on Sunday, manager Jurgen Klopp praised his team for playing outstanding defense for 99 minutes.
The game’s lone goal was scored by Mohammed Salah in the second half.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Klopp discussed how the Reds prevented the Premier League champions from playing their typical brand of football.
“Result, great,” he said. Performance was excellent in a game that was quite intense.
“We nearly played 99 minutes of really strong defense. They had their moments, but we did particularly well in the box.

“Obviously, this was significant for us today. That was our only goal when we arrived today.
These counterattack scenarios weren’t present in the city; we encountered them three times. Alisson and Mo both shown spectacular understanding of the scenario around the goal. While he might miss one, he won’t miss two in the same circumstance.
Despite the fact that the game is decided by goals, there were a lot of memorable plays against what I consider to be the best football team in the world.
