Senator Teslim Folarin, an All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor in the upcoming general election, yesterday denounced an alleged assault on party members by Mukaila Lamidi, the state’s motor park management chairman also known as “Auxiliary.” Lamidi, however, has refuted claims that he was responsible for the assault.

The attack, according to him, was the height of brigandage, lawlessness, and provocation that may have heightened tension in the state.

He thinks it is incomprehensible that some hoodlums are plotting to disrupt the peaceful gathering at a time when Nigerians are celebrating Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Kashim Shettima as the party’s nominee and running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
It was gathered that scores of members of the party were injured when auxiliary forces in a light green SUV along with 10 other vehicles intercepted APC members in Labiran Junction in the heart of the city around 1:20 pm on Tuesday and unleashed mayhem on them.

Folarin alleged that his members were attacked from behind while the candidates were in the front.

He said, “I have just been informed that Makinde’s thugs, led by the notorious Lamidi Auxiliary, have launched coordinated attacks on our APC members and support groups.
“Auxiliary personally led the attacks at Iyana Labiran enroute Oje in Ibadan. As peaceful and law-abiding citizens, we won’t take laws into our hands. To this end, I call on law enforcement agencies to do the needful.
