GOC 81 DIVISION TASKS NEWLY ELEVATED SOLDIERS ON EXCELLENCE, COMMITMENT

The Headquarters 81 Division Nigerian Army in Victoria Island, Lagos, hosted a colourful promotion ceremony on 18th November 2025, where newly elevated soldiers were decorated in the presence of top military officers, families and well-wishers.

In a statement released by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, the General Officer Commanding, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, charged the promoted personnel to uphold the highest standards of discipline, hard work and dedication as they take on their new responsibilities.

Among those honoured at the ceremony were Staff Sergeant Babagana Abacha and Staff Sergeant Kassim Musediku, who were decorated with the esteemed rank of Warrant Officer. The event also saw six Sergeants elevated to Staff Sergeant, four Corporals promoted to Sergeant, and three Lance Corporals advancing to the rank of Corporal.

Major General Mijinyawa commended the soldiers for their professionalism and unwavering commitment to duty, noting that their performance has been instrumental in advancing the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy for the year. He further highlighted the indispensable role of clerks in maintaining the administrative backbone of the Nigerian Army, urging them to remain diligent and focused.

The GOC also extended appreciation to the families of the celebrants, acknowledging their sacrifices and constant support, which he described as vital to the soldiers’ continued success.

Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the newly promoted personnel, Warrant Officer Babagana Abacha expressed gratitude to God, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM and the GOC for their confidence and consistent mentorship. He pledged, on behalf of all beneficiaries, to justify their new ranks with renewed dedication, commitment and positive impact on both their units and families.

The ceremony concluded with a group photograph, capturing a memorable day marked by pride, recognition and renewed resolve within 81 Division.
