The National Institute For Policy And Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, Plateau State, in Collaboration with Leadership And Professional Ethics Consult, has commenced a leadership training course for over seventy (70) participants drawn from both public and private sectors, comprising political office holders, Chief Executives of Organisations, top public servants from across the nation and was declared open by the Director General of the National Institute for Policy And Strategic Studies, Prof Ayo Omotayo represented by Prof. Ashafa Hamed.
The 13th Basic Stream Short Course on Strategic Leadership, Ethics, and Policy Making (SLEAPM), aims at equipping leaders with the required knowledge, skills and tools to deal with the challenges of a fast-changing world.
Also, it aims at raising strategic and ethical leaders with the requirements required for leadership in their various organisations and sectors.
The Course will also ensure that participants at all levels will be able to influence
Governments at all levels in Nigeria and Corporate entities and should as matter of policy continue to invest in human capacity development to raise leaders that are equipped with the right skills, knowledge and tools to cope with emerging leadership challenges in a wold characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.
Participants from the public and private sectors should develop core organisational ethics and values and put in place appropriate reward and sanction mechanism to deepen them.
They will also have impactful sessions about National policies that will have serious impacts on the Citizens lives and livelihoods should be subjected to critical experts review by institutions such as the NIPSS before approval and implementation to avoid policy somersault which has become synonymous with public policies in Nigeria.
The need to teach the right values to children at the family level, to combat corruption, is also part of the course outline.
The intensive one-week training will bring together professionals from various government parastatals, equipping them with advanced leadership perspectives and ethical decision-making frameworks critical to their roles in governance and policy implementation.
The program will feature in-depth sessions on strategic leadership, public ethics, and policy formulation, fostering a multidisciplinary exchange of ideas among senior government officials. Participants are drawn from key sectors, underscoring the commitment of the government to strengthening institutional leadership and governance efficiency.
