Three people were hurt and two people were slain when unidentified gunmen stormed a Celestial Church in Felele, Lokoja, Kogi State.
It was learned that the incident took place late on Sunday night in Felele, behind the NNPC Mega station.
An eyewitness described how the shooters rushed the chapel and began firing randomly to our correspondent.
Further information revealed that while numerous others fled for safety, two persons perished instantly.
Treatment for the injured victims is now being provided at Lokoja’s Federal Medical Center (FMC).

“When they entered, they started firing at everyone outside the church,” an eyewitness recalled. I then retreated inside a cassava farm to hide. What I witnessed yesterday like an action movie within a movie. Kogi is not safe anymore.
On Monday morning, William Ovye Aya, the public relations officer for the Kogi State Police, verified the occurrence.
He claimed that thugs broke into the church and began shooting at worshippers.
“The Divisional Police Officer of B Division Felele received a distress call that thugs had broken into a Celestial Church beside the NNPC mega station and started firing.
“Two patients were found deceased in the hospital, while three more are undergoing care.
According to him, “The Commissioner of Police has deployed our agents and ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of inquiry to begin investigation to unravel the cause of the attack with a view to apprehend the perpetuators.”
