Unknown gunmen stormed a Celestial Church in Felele, Lokoja, Kogi State, leaving two people dead and three more wounded.
The incident is believed to have occurred late on Sunday night in Felele, behind the NNPC Mega station.
Our correspondent was told by an eyewitness that the attackers rushed the church and began shooting randomly.
Further information revealed that two persons perished instantly and that several others fled for safety.
At the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Lokoja, the injured victims are now being treated.
According to a witness, “they started firing at everyone outside the church when they entered. I then walked to a cassava plantation and hid there. Yesterday’s event reminded me of an inside-a-movie action movie. No longer secure is Kogi.

The event was reported on Monday morning by William Ovye Aya, Public Relations Officer for the Kogi State Police.
He claimed that criminals broke inside the church and began shooting at the faithful.
According to a distress call that Divisional Police Officer Felele of B Division got, thugs broke into a Celestial Church behind NNPC Mega Station and started firing.
“Three persons are receiving care, but two people were confirmed deceased in the hospital.
According to him, “the Commissioner of Police has deployed our agents and ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of inquiry to begin investigation to unravel the cause of the attack with a view to apprehend the perpetuators.”
