In celebration of the festive season, Headquarters 9 Brigade Nigerian Army organized its end-of-year party for the children residing in the cantonment. The party, themed “Ikeja Cantonment End of Year Funfair,” was aimed at commemorating the holiday spirit with the children and families of all personnel residing in the Cantonment
During his address to the children, the Commander 9 Brigade, Brigadier General Olawale Matthew Oyekola, expressed his delight at the large turnout and emphasized the joy of bringing smiles to the faces of the children. He praised the parents and encouraged them to sustain their dedications to the well-being of the children to nurture them in the right direction. He emphasized the need for safety and security during the funfair to achieve the joyful and celebratory effects of the yuletide season.
In a heartwarming gesture, the children who are estimated to be around 2,500 used the opportunity to sing for the Commander, showing their excitement and happiness for the funfair. The highlight of the event was a performance by BOYSARM, an upcoming artiste, food and drinks (soft) including sharing to other children within the barracks and cash prizes for different categories of games, including sectional photographs.
