In a vibrant show of unity and community spirit, the Sango Ota Command of the Nigeria Police Force led a dynamic joint patrol on Saturday, 29th March 2025, in celebration of the Ramadan Festival. Collaborating with a host of security agencies, the initiative aimed to curb crime and deter any potential unlawful activities during and beyond the festive period.
Under the leadership of Area Commander ACP Shola Oladele, the patrol embarked on a well-coordinated journey starting at the Sango Police Station. The route gracefully wove through local hotspots, including Ìjókò, Ijako, Iyana Ilogbo, the iconic Sango Under Bridge, Toll Gate, Ojuore, Ilogbo Road, Onipanu, Iyana Iyesi, and looped back via Idiroko Road to the Sango Police Station.
The patrol not only ensured heightened security but also worked diligently to keep traffic flowing smoothly throughout Sango Ota and its environs.
In her remarks, ACP Oladele emphasized that the exercise was designed not to intimidate but to educate. The goal was to sensitize the public about the serious consequences of any civil or criminal breaches, while assuring everyone of a secure environment during this blessed period.
During the patrol, team members efficiently cleared road obstructions and engaged with local traders, highlighting the hazards of street trading that could lead to road accidents and traffic congestion.
The joint patrol was bolstered by an impressive coalition of security agencies. Personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), TRACE, Amotekun, Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), and Fire Services all contributed to this comprehensive safety operation.
As the community embraces the spirit of Ramadan, the message is clear: a high-security presence remains in place to protect and serve. The collaborative efforts of these agencies not only ensure safety but also promote a festive atmosphere where citizens can celebrate with peace of mind.
