The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has officially opened a two-day Executive Leadership Retreat for senior police officers in Abuja. The retreat, themed around driving police reform, is a key part of IGP Disu’s policy to bring about sustainable and positive change in the Nigeria Police Force.
The retreat is being held in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and features discussions on evidence-based budgeting, community policing strategies, and digital transformation. The Police Reform Secretariat has unveiled several transformative achievements, including a revised national recruit curriculum and a modern, rights-based framework set out in the Nigeria Police Regulations 2025.
IGP Disu emphasized that leadership at the senior level must be defined by vision, accountability, and the ability to inspire public confidence. The retreat is expected to drive visible progress in operational efficiency, discipline, and adherence to human rights throughout the police force.
