Despite the heavy downpour on Tuesday 7th October 2025, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Sulaiman Kazeem Olanrewaju, paid a working visit to the Afa Bridge in Isawo to assess the state of the long-uncompleted project which has continued to pose serious challenges to residents and business owners in the area.

Earlier in the day, Hon. Olanrewaju was warmly received by the Isawo community at the Isawo Town Hall, where he held a stakeholders’ meeting with community leaders and residents to deliberate on pressing issues of development, with particular emphasis on the Afa Bridge.

The bridge, which serves as a major link between Isawo community, Agric bus stop and other parts of Ikorodu, has remained incomplete for several years, resulting in recurrent flooding and disruptions to commercial and social activities whenever it rains. The torrential downpour often renders the bridge impassable, cutting off movement and trade along the axis.

During his inspection, the Chairman sympathized with victims affected by the recent flooding and those whose livelihoods have suffered due to the poor state of the bridge. He assured residents that his administration would not relent in ensuring the project’s timely completion.

Hon. Olanrewaju further revealed plans to summon the contractors handling the project to a meeting in order to ascertain the cause of the delay and to liaise with the Ministry of Transportation for immediate intervention.

He reiterated his commitment to improving infrastructure within Ikorodu West LCDA and called for continued cooperation from residents as the council works toward resolving the longstanding challenges posed by the Afa Bridge project.
