Bashir Ishaq Bashir, a Labour Party (LP) candidate for governor of Kano State, announced yesterday that his party has finalized preparations to send Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Ambassador Aminu Wali into political retirement in 2023.
Speaking during the Media Dialogue hosted by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kano Correspondents Chapel, Bashir charged that the three politicians were in charge of their respective parties and had a firm hold on Kano politics, accusing them of not having the interests of the people at heart.

“Over the past 20 years, we have seen leaders that were unprepared when they assumed office. The priorities of the people are not prioritized by our leaders. We’ll make sure Kano is a financially viable city,” he said.
“In every culture, and during times of enormous adversity and hardships, there emerges a group of dedicated and like-minded people whose combined resolve and persistence exceeds the sum of the massive economic, social, and moral deterioration of their society.
“These are people who have ideas on how their society ought to and ought not to be. individuals with high moral standards whose dedication to serving the public is unwavering. Men and women who put their own comforts aside for the benefit of their community.

Asserting that the LP will pull a surprise in Kano and the entire North with the amount of ground the party is gaining, he also called baseless claims that his party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, is unpopular in the North.
