The Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Ilorin, Sunday Adewole has expressed concern over rising insecurity especially the continuous invasion by alleged Fulani herdsmen on farmers in the state and across the country.
Adewole raised the alarm during an interactive session with Journalists in Ilorin, the state capital on the sideline of the Diocesan 48th anniversary where he noted that if the trend is not thoroughly checked it could lead to famine in the coming years.
Bishop Sunday Adewole while expressing fears over the likely effects of the suspected herders attack on farmers in Kwara state said the Diocese has also suspended its farming activities as they are also being invaded by suspected herders.
He added that the diocese paid an undisclosed huge amount of ransom to secure the release of one of the bishops in the diocese advising security agents to stop being economical with the truth on ransom payment to secure the release of kidnapped victims.
While calling for total overhaul of the country’s education sector, bishop Sunday Adewole blames religious leaders for not challenging government enough on the many problems facing the education sector in the country.
Adewole however charged religious leaders and politicians to strictly follow the dictates of their religion with a view to guaranteeing a brighter future for the country.
