A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Adedamola Kasunmu, has emphasised the need for collaboration to alleviate poverty and transform lives.
Kasunmu, representing Ikeja Constituency II, made the call on Thursday during the 2025 Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting held in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this year’s meeting had the theme: ‘Governance in Action, The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda.’
According to him, partnerships between government, corporate bodies, and private individuals are vital to ensuring people’s lives are positively changed.
“We cannot leave everything to the government alone,” Kasunmu stressed.
He urged corporate organisations, private entities, and well-meaning Nigerians to collaborate in improving lives through collective efforts and shared responsibility.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Kasunmu, also the Deputy Majority Leader, advised constituents to remain patient, tolerant, and hopeful about the country’s progress.
He expressed optimism that Nigerians would soon enjoy the full benefits of President Bola Tinubu’s policies and programmes under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We need to be patient, tolerant, and persevering. Above all, we must remain hopeful,” he said.
Kasunmu added: “By 2027, the government will definitely do more.”
He noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda had already made a positive impact in Ikeja, citing improvements in security, healthcare, and education as evidence.
The lawmaker also highlighted his role in supporting state government initiatives, particularly in empowerment, education, and healthcare delivery within the constituency.
He said testimonies from beneficiaries of healthcare and educational programmes reflected the agenda’s success across Lagos State’s local governments.
“Most of the Renewed Hope Agenda programmes have been rolled out across the states, especially throughout Lagos local governments,” he explained.
Kasunmu assured that his office maintained an open-door policy to ensure accountability and accessibility to constituents.
He expressed confidence that the Renewed Hope Agenda would yield greater results with the support of the people in the remaining two years of Tinubu’s term.
“With the support of the people, the sky is only the beginning,” he declared.
In her remarks, Alhaja Olushola Kokumo, APC Chairperson in Ojodu LCDA, urged residents to participate in the ongoing INEC voter registration exercise.
She said registering would ensure their voices are heard and enable them to exercise their civic rights during the 2027 general elections. NAN
