President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan has said President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to present the proposed N19.76 trillion 2023 Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly in the first week of October.
The President of the Senate made this disclosure while inspecting the makeshift Senate chamber which will serve as the temporary chamber due to the ongoing renovation of the Senate’s main chamber.
The early submission of the budget by the President is to have the appropriation bill out on time and follow through with the January to December budget cycle.
Upon resumption in​ September 20, 2022, Senate is expected to confirm the nomination of Acting Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola
Acting CJN was appointed on June 27, 2022 and he has three months to get Senate confirmation, failure of which will require fresh nomination.
The renovation of the National Assembly complex is largely for the benefit of the incoming 10th Assembly as it would be completed in August 2023.
