Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde received the draft of the Oyo State Development Plan 2021-2040 from the state’s central working committee and technical group on Tuesday.
Makinde received the development plan draft in his office’s executive chamber, State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
In his remarks, the governor stated that in the second quarter of 2022, his administration would unveil a long-term state development plan as well as a medium-term development plan for the years 2021-2025.
He said the plan would be unveiled at an economic summit and would help the state prosper economically while also serving as a guide for future administrations.
He went on to say that the plan would also aid in the enforcement of promises made to the people.
The plan, according to Makinde, includes economic, human capital, social, infrastructure, and physical planning, among other things.
He went on to say that the plan would keep people informed about the government’s vision for ensuring the state’s long-term development and promoting participatory governance.
“This development plan will provide reliable pointers to sustainable development in the medium and long term.”

“For buy-in, the document will be presented to the good people of Oyo State in all geopolitical zones.”
“This is because we don’t believe we’re the brightest people in the state or that we understand where the shoe pinches in all geopolitical zones.”
“So, we’ll give them the opportunity to see this document and provide feedback, and it’ll be sent to the executive council for approval,” he explained.
He praised the central working committee and technical working group for their significant contributions to the development plan’s production.
Prof Musibau Babatunde, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, stated that the development plan would be the first of its kind in the state’s history.
He explained that the goal of the plan was to find a more holistic solution to development issues.
He explained that the development plan followed the global development agenda and had four pillars and 25 thematic areas.
He also stated that the document has a specific time frame, as well as a clear vision and smart objectives.
