In a significant stride towards bolstering its leadership, the Nigerian Navy has elevated 146 senior officers to new ranks, as announced on Thursday, December 19, 2024. This development, approved by the Navy Board, marks a historic milestone in the nation’s maritime defense landscape.
According to a statement released by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore A Adams- Aliu, the promotion exercise saw 24 Commodores rise to the prestigious rank of Rear Admiral, 26 Captains elevated to Commodore, and 96 Commanders advanced to the rank of Captain.
Taking center stage in this promotion wave are the 24 newly minted Rear Admirals, whose names are set to be etched in naval history. Among them are Ibrahim Mohammed-Katsina, Suleman Dahun, Gideon Jinjirim Kachim, Abolade Olanrele Ogunleye, Seminu Adisa Adepegba, Bob-Manuel Kokoete Effiong, and Yusuf Sani Idris. Others include Danjuma Mohammed Ndanusa, Ifeanyi Chidi Okpala, Mushin Yahaya Abba, Victor Dabess Choji, and Vincent Burabari Gbaranwi.
Adding to the list are Madumom Ide, Desmond Okechukwu Igbo, Kolawale Olumide Oguntuga, Adedokun John Siyanbade, Raheem Taofeek, Kabiru Tanimu, Bai Haruna Sabo, Jonathan Ojone Ajodo, Paul Efe-Oghene, Musliu Olatokunbo Yussuff, Abiodun Alade, and Samuel Innocent Ngatuwa.
Rising to the rank of Commodore are 26 exceptional officers, including Mohammed Ahmed Abdullahi, Kabir Umar Rabiu, Bashir Abubakar, Olayinka Ayodele Aliu, and Uche Aneke. The list continues with Temitope Adeshola Bamidele, Ekuma Raphael Ekuma, Nsikan Friday, Ibrahim Ari Gwaska, and Maksum Abdullahi Mohammed, among others.
This distinguished cohort reflects the Navy’s unwavering commitment to excellence and strategic growth, with names like Mutalib Ibikunle Raji, Umar Saidu, and Sylvester Kennedy Ogogo joining the prestigious rank.
The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, extended warm congratulations to the newly promoted officers and their families. In his statement, Vice Admiral Ogalla called on the officers to renew their dedication to their duties, emphasizing loyalty to the nation and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
