A National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officer, Chief Narcotic Agent Sadiq Bako Mujahid, was killed during a raid on a notorious drug enclave in Bonny Island, Rivers State. The operation, which took place on February 6, 2026, resulted in the arrest of six suspects, including the gang leader, Genesis George Benson, and the recovery of a cache of illicit substances, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, skunk, and tramadol.
The suspects had mobilized armed hoodlums to attack the NDLEA operatives, leading to Mujahid’s fatal head injuries. The NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the bravery of the officers involved and vowed to continue the fight against illicit drugs.
Marwa described Mujahid as a disciplined and courageous officer who paid the ultimate price, and extended condolences to his family and colleagues. He warned that attacks on NDLEA officers will not go unpunished, stating, “Any attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go without dire consequences.”
