NEW ARMY OFFICERS JOIN RANKS AS COAS PUSHES DISCIPLINE, NATIONAL COMMITMENT AMID SECURITY EMERGENCY

The Nigerian Army is intensifying efforts to reinforce the nation’s security framework, commissioning a new cadre of officers at a time of heightened operational demands across the country.

In a statement released by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, charged the newly commissioned officers of Executive Commission Course 2/2025 to uphold loyalty, discipline and an unwavering commitment to national duty. The Passing Out Parade held on 6th December 2025, at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI), Jaji, marks a key step in the military’s manpower expansion under President Tinubu’s State of Emergency on Security.

The Army Chief underscored the significance of deploying fresh leaders into the field at a moment when the security landscape is shaped by terrorism, banditry and evolving asymmetric threats. He noted that the officers’ performance on parade and in weapon handling reflects NASI’s rising training standards and aligns with the military’s requirement for vigilant, ethically grounded commanders.

General Shaibu reiterated that the officers must remain apolitical, disciplined and firmly guided by constitutional principles, stressing that the integrity of the armed forces rests on unwavering loyalty to civil authority.

Earlier, the Commandant of NASI, Major General Frank Etim, highlighted that the curriculum for the 250 graduating officers, including 14 female officers, was redesigned to meet emerging threats. The programme covered counterterrorism, counterinsurgency, leadership development, physical conditioning and tactical command, shaping the officers for immediate deployment across Nigeria’s security theatres.

Outstanding graduates were recognized for exceptional academic performance, field conduct and leadership potential, reinforcing the Army’s merit-driven approach to officer development.

The Nigerian Army restated its commitment to advancing the Federal Government’s security stabilization plan through sustained recruitment, intensive training, improved readiness levels and strategic deployments nationwide.
