The wife of the Commissioner of police Lagos command, Mrs Folayemi Owohunwa, on Friday took over the leadership of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) in the State.
The new POWA chairperson took over from Mrs Tosin Alabi at a brief ceremony witnessed by some officers’ wives from the command, held at the POWA’s Secretariat, GRA, Ikeja.
She called on the officers’ wives in the state for their cooperations and commitments to the association.
She said their cooperations would help her to succeed in the position as chairperson, stressing that their advise and constructive criticism would put the association to a better level during her time
Mrs Owohunwa charged the members to always encouraged and be supportive of their spouses.
She urged them to always pray for their husbands’ safety and success in their police profession.
She promised to established a Foundation where scholarship can be given to some police children in secondary school and university
“Those that gain admission to university, some of them will be selected for scholarships. We are going to set that up. I believed and I hope it will continue when I am no longer here,” she said.
The POWA Chairperson also promised to look into life after retirement on the part of retired police officers wives once their husbands retired.
She said this will help the members to know what to do and when to do it
Owohunwa said there would be health programme for the women that will be carried out at different barracks in Lagos.
