The Nigerian Army has announced the death of Lt. S. Haruna, who sustained severe fire burns following a tragic domestic incident involving his wife on September 22nd, 2025.
In a statement released by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters 2 Brigade, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Captain Lawal Bala Muhammad, the Army disclosed that the officer was promptly evacuated to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), where he received comprehensive medical attention. Despite intensive efforts by the medical team, Lt. Haruna sadly passed away on October 6th, 2025.
The Nigerian Army expressed deep condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of the late officer, praying for the repose of his soul.
Captain Muhammad further noted that an investigation was immediately instituted to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, adding that the findings will be made public upon conclusion.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to professionalism, discipline, and accountability in all its operations and the conduct of its personnel.
