The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the posting and appointment of senior officers to key command, instructional and staff positions in a major reshuffle aimed at strengthening leadership and enhancing the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Army.

In a statement released by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel OA Anele, the redeployment affects Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters, two General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions and Brigade Commanders, among others holding critical roles in the Army’s administrative and operational architecture.

Among those appointed as Principal Staff Officers at the Army Headquarters are Major General AA Adeyinka, redeployed from the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (NACST) to the Department of Army Logistics as Chief of Logistics (Army); Major General AA Adekeye, who moves from the Department of Standard and Evaluation to the Department of Personnel Management as Chief of Personnel Management (Army); and Major General TB Ugiagbe, from the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps to the Department of Standard and Evaluation as Chief of Standard and Evaluation. Others include Major General AA Idris, from Defence Headquarters to the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps as Chief of Military Intelligence (Army) and Major General MO Erebulu, from the Department of Special Services and Programmes to the Corps of Military Police as Provost Marshal (Army).

Additionally, Major General EA Anaryu has been redeployed from Defence Space Administration and appointed Corps Commander Supply and Transport, while Major General SA Akesode moves from the Office of the National Security Adviser to the African Union Verification Mission in Ethiopia as Head of Mission. Major General JE Osifo also assumes office as Director General, Nigerian Army Finance Corporation, having been redeployed from the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Accounts.

Senior officers appointed as General Officers Commanding (GOCs) include Major General ASM Wase, posted from the Department of Training to Headquarters 1 Division/Sector 1 Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) as GOC 1 Division/Commander Sector 1, and Major General CR Nnebeife, appointed GOC 2 Division/Commander Sector 3 JTF OPFY.

Others appointed as Commandants of training institutions are Major General MO Ihanuwaze, from Nigerian Army Finance Insurance Corporation to Nigerian Army Finance School and Administration as Commandant; Major General KO Osemwegie, Commandant, Army Signal School; Major General AJ Aliyu, Commandant, Nigerian Army Ordnance School; and Major General AC Adetoba, posted from the Department of Transformation and Innovation to the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management as Commandant.

Also affected are Brigade Commanders, including Brigadier General M Jimoh, redeployed from HQ Operation FANSAN YAMMA to HQ 1 Brigade as Commander; Brigadier General NE Okoloagu, from Army War College Nigeria to 2 Brigade as Commander; and Brigadier General AA Bello, from the Nigerian Army School of Infantry to 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3 JTF South South Operation DELTA SAFE as Commander.

The COAS charged the newly appointed senior officers to redouble their commitment to duty and consolidate on the ongoing onslaught against terrorism, insurgency and other security challenges confronting the nation. He further reaffirmed that the welfare of troops remains a priority in driving operational success and sustaining the Nigerian Army’s mission readiness.
