The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS BEECROFT) has handed over two suspected stowaways to the Nigeria Immigration Service. The suspects, Abdullahi Yakubu and Omoniyi Afotona, were found hiding in a vessel’s rudder compartment on March 19, 2026.
The Commander of NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, warned that hiding on ships to migrate is illegal and dangerous, urging youths to use legal means.
The suspects are believed to have entered the vessel at Apapa Port, and one is a repeat offender. The Navy will continue to safeguard Nigeria’s maritime interests and support joint operations.
