In a bid to enhance security operations across Lagos and neighboring states, the Lagos State Police Command and the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft have reaffirmed their commitment to closer collaboration in crime fighting and intelligence gathering.
The renewed partnership was solidified during a courtesy visit by Commodore Paul Nimmyel, the newly appointed Commander of NNS Beecroft, to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh. Nimmyel, who assumed duty on February 6, emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing security challenges effectively.
As part of its mandate, the Nigerian Navy is responsible for securing waterways and coastal areas, including parts of Ogun and Ondo States, to ensure smooth economic activities. Recognizing that no single security agency can tackle crime in isolation, Nimmyel underscored the need for synergy between the Navy and the Police. His visit to the Commissioner of Police was aimed at reinforcing this collaboration while also expressing appreciation for the longstanding support between both agencies.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police welcomed the initiative, affirming his commitment to strengthening the existing relationship. He acknowledged the strategic importance of the Navy’s role in securing Lagos’s waterways and assured continued cooperation to enhance safety across the region.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of plaques between the two leaders, symbolizing a renewed partnership in safeguarding lives and property. This move highlights a shared vision to create a safer environment where economic activities can thrive without security concerns.
