Two people have been detained by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) on suspicion of damaging train lines in Enugu State.
This was said in a statement released on Wednesday in Enugu by Mr. Denny Manuel, the command’s public relations officer, on behalf of Mr. Aloysius Obiorah, the NSCDC Commandant in the state.
Onu Chekwube, 28, and Okeke Okwudiri, 18, were reportedly detained on October 10 in Aruokwe Village in Oduma in the Aninri Council Area of the state, according to Obiorah.
He claimed that they were detained as they were tearing down Nigeria Railway Corporation-owned railroad infrastructure.
The commandant reported recovering from the suspects 77 railroad bolts and nuts, iron pipe, a machete, a digger, flat and rig spanners, empty hydraulic acid containers, and two full containers of hydraulic.
He said that certain hunters and employees of the state Forest Security Service helped in the capture of the two accused.

Obiorah asked residents of the state to provide security officials with information on offenders’ whereabouts so that swift action could be taken.
The NSCDC commandant emphasized the value of community-based information in preventing criminal activity before it gets out of hand.
He stated that following a thorough investigation, the suspects would face charges in court.
