The former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, has begun his door-to-door campaigning in Ogun East as the party’s senatorial candidate.
Daniel is disobeying the APC Chairman in Ogun State, Yemi Sanusi, who earlier requested that all APC candidates hold off on launching their campaigns until the party issues additional instructions.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had requested that presidential and National Assembly candidates begin their campaigns as of September 28.
On October 2, however, the APC Chairman in Ogun forbade candidates from beginning their campaigns, claiming that the party wanted to coordinate its programs in Ogun with the timetable for the national election and that the State was in the process of forming its campaign committee.
Before creating a campaign schedule for Ogun, the campaign committee, according to Sanusi, would consult with the Governor, the Presidential Campaign Council, and the APC National Headquarters.
However, the party has yet to issue any new instructions since more than two weeks ago, and candidates continue to be “stagnant.”

According to reports, Daniel started his campaign tour on Monday by visiting all 10 council wards in the state’s Ijebu North East Local Government Area.
He said that while Nigeria was endowed with plenty of material and human resources, it still needed strong leaders to carry out the aspirations of its forefathers.
