The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has held its first-ever Ota Security Summit, aimed at fostering collaboration and innovative strategies to tackle security challenges in Ota and its environs.

The event, themed “Building a Safer Ota Through Collaboration and Innovation”, held on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025, at Mokland Hotel and Suites, Ota.

The State Commandant, CC Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, described the summit as more than a ceremonial gathering. She said it was a platform for strategic dialogue, intelligence sharing and actionable solutions tailored to the community’s specific security realities.

She identified key threats such as industrial sabotage, vandalism, community-based crimes and other emerging challenges, urging a holistic and complementary approach to security management.

Commandant Ekundayo reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting critical national assets and promoting public safety through grassroots engagement. She emphasized that the path to lasting security lies in synergy between security agencies, credible intelligence gathering, community cooperation and the use of technology-driven solutions.

The summit drew participation from top government officials, security leaders and community stakeholders, including representatives of the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and the deputy Governor Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, and a representative of the Area Commander of Ota Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force, ACP Shola Oladele.

Also present were HRM Oba (Prof.) Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, the Olota of Ota, Hon. Adewale Wasiu Lawal, the Executive Chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota LGA and High Chief (Mrs.) R.A. Ojugbele, the Iyalode of Ota.

Representatives of the Nigerian Navy, Ministry of Justice, NDLEA, Amotekun Corps, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and various community development associations were in attendance.

The event featured discussions on community safety, inter-agency cooperation and local crime prevention strategies, producing a set of resolutions aimed at creating a more peaceful and secure Ota.
